"My life was one thing before prana nidra and another after."
A book for learning how to rest.
It opens with a personal story: a young man, exhausted, who finds in a yoga class in New York a way of resting he didn't know existed.
It goes on to today's tiredness, told by the people who live it. And it ends where it matters: the complete method, with the script of five practices to do at home. Between chapters there are short poems and stories from practitioners.
Chapter by chapter
- 1Introduction. How the practice came into Andrei's life in 2002, and the personal story of exhaustion and violence he was coming from.
- 2The Thousand Faces of Exhaustion. Why sleep doesn't always restore us. Tiredness told by the people who live it: a mother, an artist, an entrepreneur.
- 3Learning to Feel Is Learning to Rest. Withdrawing the senses, listening inward, and releasing tensions the body has held for years.
- 4My Life After Rest. What changes in your relationship with energy, work, and everyday life.
- 5The Intimate Constellation. What the body holds, and how the practice teaches you to listen to it.
- 6The Four Stages of Prana Nidra. The method, step by step.
- 7Preparing the Ground. The space, the posture, and the time of day.
- 8The Origins of Prana Nidra. Where the practice comes from and how it has been passed on.
- 9Our Daily Prana. The complete script of the five practices, from the basic one to the kriya.

Andrei Ram, with Jorge Caraballo
Andrei Ram is a direct disciple of Sri Dharma Mittra and has spent more than twenty years leading retreats, practices, and teacher trainings around the world. He received prana nidra from the tradition and shares it as he has lived it.
Jorge Caraballo Cordovez is a writer and journalist, a former Nieman Fellow at Harvard, and worked at Radio Ambulante. He came to the practice as Andrei's student and wrote the book while raising three young children: he put the practice to the test on his own exhaustion, as he tells in the prologue.
